Nancy O'Dell's initial position in the broadcasting industry was as a reporter/anchor at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she was a the morning news anchor as well as a crime reporter for WCBD-TV. While in Charleston O'Dell's reports on the lenient police approach to DUI cases resulted in an State Law Enforcement Division investigation that resulted in state authorities re-issuing the strictest guidelines regarding DUI instances. The Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell with her Best Report of the year Award to the entire South Carolina media.
